The Honourable Special Adviser to Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo (International Development Partners), Hon. Collins Edomaruse, has commended the governor for the deployment of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) medical doctor in Igbanke General Hospital, Igbanke in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
Edomaruse made the commendation while receiving the medical doctor, Dr. Chinedu Emmanuel, on behalf of his principal.
He said the deployment is yet another intervention by Governor Okpebholo in health services needs of the Igbanke community.
He said the commendation was timely because the Governor had earlier given full employment in the state medical service to medical doctors, pharmacists and nurses that are indigenes of the community.
Hon. Edomaruse, a proud son of Igbanke, while receiving the corps member at his office in Benin, thanked the Governor for being a father to all.
The Special Adviser also urged Dr. Emmanuel to approach his service in Igbanke with dedication, professionalism and a strong sense of responsibility.
He also reminded him of the importance of making a meaningful contribution to the health and wellbeing of the people he has been deployed to serve.
He assured the medical doctor of the support and cooperation of the people of Igbanke, while encouraging him to see his posting not merely as a statutory national service obligation, but also as an opportunity to contribute positively to the development of the Igbanke community.
As part of efforts to support the corps member and make his stay in Igbanke comfortable throughout the duration of his service, the Igbanke General Union (IGU) has facilitated a monthly stipend for Dr. Emmanuel, with additional support from Hon. Edomaruse.
Similarly, another illustrious son of Igbanke, Dr. Osagiede Samuel Emualosi, Fellow of the Medical College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FMCOG) and Medical Director of Divine Springs Hospital, Igbanke, has provided a self-contained accommodation for the corps member for the remainder of his service year.
In a further demonstration of the community’s commitment to making Dr. Emmanuel feel welcome and at home, Hon. Edomaruse has also facilitated his introduction to the Honourable Commissioner for Inter-Ethnic Relations, Hon. Martin Anayochukwu Oli, who, like the corps member, hails from Enugu State, thereby providing an additional layer of support and familiarity for the young medical practitioner.
Meanwhile, Dr. Emmanuel has visited and assessed both the Igbanke General Hospital and the accommodation provided for him. He expressed satisfaction with the facilities and arrangements put in place ahead of his resumption.
The medical corps member is expected to resume fully upon the expiration of his post-camp leave, after which he will relocate his personal effects from his home state to Igbanke and commence his service at the hospital.
