The Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the immediate employment of two children of the late Mr Kingsley Ogbodu, the Functioning Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The Head of Service, Hon Anthony Okungbowa, disclosed this during a commendation service held in honour of the deceased at the Civil Service Secretariat Complex in Benin City, on Thursday.
Represented at the service by a Permanent Secretary, Okungbowa said the State Government would not only employ two of the deceased’s children into the civil service but would also take full responsibility for the funeral arrangements and associated expenses.
“His Excellency, as we already know, has made some promises, including the immediate employment of two of the children into the state civil service. It won’t end there. In addition, government will take charge of the funeral arrangements and the costs for the burial,” he said.
Ogbodu died in a road accident on the Lokoja-Okene-Abuja Expressway while travelling to Abuja for an official assignment in July.
The State Government’s gesture, according to the Head of Service, underscores its commitment to supporting the family of the late civil servant and honouring his contributions to the Edo State Public Service.
