Gen Buratai Pays Condolence Visit to Family of Late Abubakar Alhaji, Visits Sultan of Sokoto

Former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai (Rtd), CFR, Betara of Biu and Garkuwan Keffi, on Sunday, 2 August 2026, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Minister of Finance and former Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, Sardaunan Sokoto, at the deceased’s residence in Sokoto.

During the visit, Lieutenant General Buratai expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the late Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

The former Army Chief also paid a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, CFR, mni, at his palace, where he similarly offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the soul of the late elder statesman.

Lieutenant General Buratai was accompanied on the visits by a former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya (Rtd), CFR, Zaruman Sokoto, Brigadier General SK Usman (rtd) mni, Dr Nurudeen Isah and Alhaji Ibrahim Nasiru. At the conclusion of the engagements, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya also hosted Lieutenant General Buratai and his entourage at his residence in Sokoto.
