Nigerian-born British former heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, 36, was involved in a serious auto crash in Nigeria on Monday.
The accident happened on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State when the SUV he was in collided with a stationary truck.
The boxer reportedly sustained minor injuries, while two other occupants died on the spot.
Eyewitness and social media posts show Joshua conscious and being helped after the collision.
“It was a two-vehicle convoy: a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV. Joshua was seated behind the driver, with another person beside him. A passenger sat beside the driver, making four occupants in the Lexus that crashed,” an eyewitness told journalists.
“His security detail followed in the vehicle behind. The two other passengers died upon the deadly impact with the stationary truck.“
Meanwhile, Joshua has been taken to a hospital by sympathizers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and reportedly stable.
The boxer was in Nigeria after a recent fight and had been spending time there before the accident.
