Bandits Storm Girls School in Kebbi Abduct 25 Students

The source also confirmed that the criminals succeeded in injuring a security guard who was on duty in the school premises before escaping with as many as 25 girls

Armed bandits during a monday morning attack on the Government Girls’ Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Danko Wasagu council area of Kebbi State, abduct 25 girls from their dormetaries.

According to an unnamed source in the school, the attack took place in the wee hours of the morning when the heavily armed bandits attacked the boarding school with sophisticated weapons, killing the school’s Vice Principal, Hassan Makuku who put up a spirited fight against the invasion.

The source also confirmed that the criminals succeeded in injuring a security guard who was on duty in the school premises before escaping with as many as 25 girls.

The attackers were said to have moved the girls through the thick Savannah across the Zamfara axis, north east Nigeria which ensured that they would have been given natural cover in case of any urgent envisaged counter attack by the Nigerian troops while fleeing from the place where the crime was committed to unknown destinations.

Reacting to the incident, the Nigerian police confirmed that a gang of armed bandits with sophisticated weapons, shooting sporadically, actually stormed the school but quickly added that the police tactical units deployed in the school engaged them even though late

“Upon receiving the unfortunate incident, a combined team of additional Police tactical units, military personnel and vigilantes have been deployed in the area and they are currently combing the bandits’ routes and nearby forest, with a view to rescue the abducted students and possibly arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.

” In the light of the above regrettable incident, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, Bello Sani had reiterated the Command’s unwavering determination in safeguarding the lives and property of the residents of Kebbi State.

“He equally appealed to the members of the public to remain calm, vigilant, and continue supporting Police operations for peace and stability to be maintained.” Said the spokesman of the command Abubakar Kotarkoshi.
