Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has directed the immediate relocation of the State Ministry of Education and its affiliated agencies to its original site located at the Edo State Education Hub, Iyaro, Benin City.
The directive, contained in a circular dated October 15, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., instructed that the relocation be completed on or before Friday, October 24, 2025.
According to the circular, addressed to the Head of Service, Chief of Staff, Honourable Commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, and Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, the move forms part of the Governor’s effort to enhance efficiency and synergy within the education sector.
“I write to convey the directive of His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State, that the Ministry of Education as well as Boards and Parastatals under the Ministry should relocate from their respective current office locations to the Edo State Education Hub at Iyaro, Benin City, on or before Friday, 24th October, 2025,” the circular read in part.
The Secretary to the State Government further emphasized the importance of compliance, urging all responsible officers of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure that the Governor’s directive is implemented without delay.
“All responsible officers or MDAs are by this circular requested to ensure strict compliance with the foregoing directive,” Ikhilor added.
The Edo State Education Hub, located at Iyaro, was established to centralize education-related operations and promote better coordination among agencies such as the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), and other parastatals within the sector.
Observers note that the relocation aligns with Governor Okpebholo’s broader reform agenda aimed at improving administrative efficiency and strengthening the institutional framework of the state’s education system.
