Edo State Government September 30 established Ecological Funding and Management Commission and appointed Dr. Blessing Agbomhere as chairman-designate pending his confirmation by the House of Assembly.
The initiative is designed to “ensure transparent and accountable mobilization and utilization of ecological resources, strengthen coordination among stakeholders, align State actions with national and international environmental commitments, and contribute to ecological sustainability, climate resilience, biodiversity conservation, and environmental justice.”
Other members of the commission are: Felix Ibhade, Executive Director (Projects); Ivie Uwaifo, Executive Director (Administration), and Khadijat Yusuf, Executive Director (Finance).
Describing the initiative as a “decisive step”, the Government noted that the establishment of the Commission underscores its unwavering commitment to safeguarding the environment for present and future generations, while positioning Edo as a leader in climate action and sustainable development.
