The Edo State Government has announced the nomination of four additional Commissioner-designates by the State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and accelerate service delivery across the state.
The announcement was made via a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., on Thursday, August 8, 2025.
The Commissioner-designates are Ohimai Ehijimetor, Eugenia Abdallah, Hon. Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi, and Prince Kassim Afegbua.
Profiles of the Commissioner-Designates
Ohimai Ehijimetor
A Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Benin, Ohimai Ehijimetor is a result-driven professional with over 14 years of experience spanning project management, team leadership, and business development. He currently serves as the Managing Director of Jackhammar Services Limited.
Eugenia Abdallah
With a background in Humanities and Administration, Eugenia Abdallah is described as a creative and self-directed executive with strong team spirit. She brings over a decade of experience in the banking industry to her new role.
Hon. Godwin Afekokhe Eshieshi
Hon. Eshieshi is an experienced politician, businessman, and grassroots leader. He holds degrees in Government and Public Administration as well as International Relations. His past public service includes a term as a Member of the Edo State House of Assembly (1992–1993) and as Chairman of Etsako East Local Government Council (May 1999 – April 2002).
Prince Kassim Afegbua
A familiar name in both media and governance circles, Prince Kassim Afegbua is a journalist, political strategist, and commentator. He holds a degree in English and Literary Studies with advanced training in media relations and political communication. He has previously served as Edo State’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation and was also Special Adviser on Media to a former Governor of the state.
“The nominations of the above-listed individuals will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for consideration and confirmation,” the statement further noted.
In a related development, Governor Okpebholo also made key appointments aimed at strengthening youth engagement and mobilisation across the state.
The Governor approved the appointment of Aigbogun Collins, the immediate-past Chairman of Esan West Local Government Council, as Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth Mobilization and Osobase Oboaguina as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation, Edo Central.
