Okpebholo Dissolves Boards’ Executives, Sacks Political Appointees

The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the immediate dissolution of all Boards, Executives, Agencies, and Parastatals in the state.

Governor Okpebholo also terminated the appointments of all political appointees and directed that all permanent secretaries appointed from outside the state’s Public/Civil Service vacate their positions immediately.

These decisions were conveyed in a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Mr. Fred Itua, a copy of which was made available to journalists on Wednesday in Benin.

The statement reads: “It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that the Governor of Edo State, His Excellency, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the immediate dissolution of the Executives of all Boards, Agencies, and Parastatals in the Edo State Public Service.

“In addition, all permanent secretaries appointed from outside the State Public/Civil Service and all political appointees are hereby relieved of their appointments.

“Accordingly, all affected appointees are to hand over all government properties in their possession to the most senior public officer in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.”

It should be noted that Governor Okpebholo had, on Wednesday, indefinitely suspended all revenue collection in Edo State.

Consequently, the governor ordered the police to arrest anyone who violates this suspension order.
