The Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, has admitted that Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Tinubu is faced with economic challenges and needs to do better.

According to NAN, the minister made this known on Wednesday at the National Economic Dialogue 2024 organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group in Abuja.

According to him, the economic policies of Tinubu’s administration are aimed at tackling economic hardship in Nigeria.

He admitted that the policy directions of the administration are tough but avowed that the government has put in place resources to cushion the impact on Nigerians.

“I just want to assure everyone that we have a strategy and it is working. We are under no illusion that it will involve tough choices. That is why, at every turn, we are looking for resources that we believe can compensate for those tough choices.

“Whatever we are doing, we have taken the message that we need to do more. We need to do better, and we need to do it in a hurry. I believe the dialogue here will help us,” he said.

This comes as Nigerians continue to groan over the impact of the rising cost of living.

Though Nigeria’s inflation declined to 33.40 per cent in July 2024, citizens have insisted that the economic hardship is yet to cool off.
