Abia State Governor Alex Otti has paid a visit to the mother of Cpl Lucky Ikechukwu Ikpeama, one of the soldiers slain by unidentified gunmen at Obikabia Junction in the Obingwa Local Government Area.

The late Ikpeama was a native of Nvosi village in Isialangwa South LGA, where the governor also hailed from.

The dead left behind a young wife and a four-month-old infant.

During the visit, Otti commiserated with the late soldier’s family, notably his aging mother, who was in tears at her son’s death.

He also restated his vow that the State Government would take on the burden of providing scholarships for the children of the dead troops to attend university.

The family of the fallen Army officer told the governor that the soldier’s burial date had been set for Thursday, June 13, 2024.

They stated that they had requested and got consent from Army officials to bury the remains.
