Carabao Cup to Introduce Changes in Competition | METROWATCH

Carabao Cup

The Carabao Cup will see modifications starting next season.

A seeding system is anticipated to be implemented as a direct response to controversial modifications to the Champions League and FA Cup.

The changes will see clubs in European championships assigned ranks and separated in the early stages.

As a result, matchups involving the top clubs may be limited in the early stages.

In addition, the third round of the competition will be spread over a fortnight to reduce fixture congestion.

According to The Telegraph, the modifications coincide with changes to the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Each Champions League team will now play two additional group games as part of the overall tournament league table. Meanwhile, fixtures will go into January, rather than early December.
