Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United legend, believes manager Erik ten Hag will be fired even if he leads the team to an unexpected FA Cup triumph at the end of the month.

Man United finished the Premier League season with a 2-0 victory over Brighton, but Ten Hag remains under fire following a difficult season.

Ten Hag’s team lost 19 games in all competitions, finished ninth, and is certain to miss out on European football for the first time since 2015 unless they beat Manchester City in the FA Cup final next weekend.

Ferdinand expressed doubts about Ten Hag’s future, predicting that the club’s co-owners Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS will review and possibly terminate his position following the FA Cup final.

“Win or lose, I don’t think Ten Hag will be there next season,” Ferdinand stated on his FIVE YouTube channel.

“I believe the club will look elsewhere. I don’t think winning the FA Cup changes anything in the eyes of INEOS. This is just my assumption, I haven’t spoken to anyone there.”
