The Edo State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged members, leaders and other stakeholders across the State to drive massive sensitization on the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) and take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) to increase the party’s numerical strength to deliver its candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State.

The Chief of Staff to Edo State Governor, Dr. Osaigbovo Iyoha made the appeal during a sensitization exercise alongside other leaders of the PDP in Uromi, Esan North East; Ubiaja in Esan South East; Irrua in Esan Central, and Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Areas of the State.

Iyoha urged members of the PDP in Edo Central Senatorial District to take advantage of the Continuous Voters Registration Exercise announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and scheduled to kick off on 28th May 2024 to commence work in earnest to enable the party to register new members to increase their numerical strength to ensure the party’s victory.

He noted, “People turn 18 years old every day, change residence, or move from State to State as they are the target for the CVR exercise. Those also disenfranchised are also targeted for this exercise.

“We are sensitizing people to always exercise their franchise, come out and vote for the candidates of their choice. The election should be issue-based and we should all go for the best man and the person that can do the job.

“We are out here to let our people know that the election starts from preparations. We have to prepare well and go out there and ensure the best hands and people win as Edo is our common patrimony. We must put the State in the hands of the person that will take it to a higher level than Governor Godwin Obaseki took the State.”

The Special Adviser to the Governor, Edo Central Senatorial District, Dr. Philomena Ihenyen, said: “We thank the governor for keeping to his promise to hand over to an Esan candidate, making a reality the dream of the Esan people for over 12 to 14 years. Obaseki is a blessing to the Esan people. The governor has done well for over these seven and half years. We all need to support Asue Ighodalo to lead Edo State as our Governor come September 21st 2024.”
