The head coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, is out of contract following the completion of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Peseiro signed a new contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last year.
The deal was short-term.
The 63-year-old penned a six-month contract that expired at the end of the AFCON.
A key clause in the contract was for Peseiro to reach the AFCON semi-finals.
The Portuguese surpassed that by leading the Eagles to the final, where they lost 2-1 to hosts Ivory Coast.
It remains to be seen what decision the NFF will take on Peseiro’s future now that the tournament has ended.
