The Federal Capital Territory’s (FCT) insecurity situation is worrisome, according to Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Akpabio said that there is a threat to the federal capital city at this point.

He bemoaned the fact that bandits had established cells in the Kubwa and Bwari districts and had invaded the FCT.

He said this just before the Senate postponed until next week its meeting with the leaders of security services.

The Chief of Defense Staff and National Security Advisor Nuhu Ribadu’s absence was the reason given by Akpabio for the adjournment.

“The situation is worrisome in Agatu, in Taraba, Oyo, Plateau, Mangu, Bokkos, and Barkin Ladi,” states Akpabio. Additionally, we learned that bandits had infiltrated the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) through areas like Kubwa and Bwari.

“We have heard reports that they have cells where they are congregating. We’ve also heard the efforts of the security chiefs and the security agencies but reports are becoming worrisome and we decided to invite you to brief us on the efforts to tackle this menace. The Senate is of the view that the FCT is under threat.”

Recently, bandits had attacked residents of Bwari and Kubwa areas of the FCT.

While some were kidnapped, others were unlucky as they were killed after ransom was paid.

Amid the incident, the minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, had vowed to make Abuja uninhabitable for criminals.

Wike said efforts are ongoing to root out the criminal elements out of Abuja.
