The Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt Hon Comrade Philip Shaibu, has met the owner of Vandrezzer Football Club in Nigeria, Joe Udofia, in Central London.
Shaibu, who is currently on his annual vacation in London, took to his verified Facebook page on Wednesday to announce the meeting with the Nigerian football club owner.
He said, “Meeting Joe Udofia in Central London today was an absolute delight. Not only is he a fellow sports enthusiast, but he is also the proud owner of the Vandrezzer Football Club in Nigeria. Our conversation revolved around our shared love for the sport, and it was exhilarating to exchange ideas and experiences.
“Joe Udofia is undeniably a visionary leader, using his platform to promote and develop football in Nigeria. His unwavering dedication to the sport has resulted in the resounding success of the Vandrezzer Football Club, which has emerged as a dominant force in Nigerian football.
“It is evident that Joe’s passion for football, coupled with his expertise, will continue to steer the growth and triumph of the sport in Nigeria. I am genuinely excited to collaborate with him in the future, as we work together to enhance and advance football in our country.”
Dubbed, ‘the sports-loving Deputy Governor’, Shaibu is a recipient of various sport-related awards by several credible sports organisations and professional bodies, in recognition of his sterling performances and contributions to sports development.
Under Shaibu’s tutelage, Bendel Insurance Football Club (FC) of Edo recently qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after defeating Rangers International Football Club (FC) of Enugu one nil to lift their 4th FA Cup after 43 years.
