Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka, the Peoples Democratic Party’s Deputy National Women Leader, has resigned to serve as a commissioner in Bauchi State.
Wanka stated in her resignation letter, copies of which were made available to Bauchi journalists, and addressed to the party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagun, that her resignation was motivated by the opportunity given to her by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, to serve as commissioner.
In the letter, she conveyed her heartfelt thanks to the national leadership of the opposition PDP for the uncommon honor of serving as the party’s Deputy National Women Leader, as well as to Governor Mohammed for considering her worthy of serving in his cabinet.
While claiming that the knowledge she received as the party’s Deputy National Women Leader could not be quantifiable, Wanka maintained that such expertise would vastly improve her performance as a Bauchi State commissioner.
Wanka was among the 24 commissioner-nominees forwarded by Governor Mohammed to the State House of Assembly, where they were vetted and confirmed.
Meanwhile, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) has acknowledged and congratulated Hajiya Wanka on her nomination to the Bauchi State Executive Council as a commissioner.
The National Publicity Secretary of the main opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, in a press statement released on Monday described Wanka’s appointment by Governor Mohammed as another testament to her selfless service, deep intellect, competence, administrative skills, and patriotic roles towards the development of PDP, Bauchi State and the nation at large.
While extolling the technical competence of Hajiya Wanka, the National Working Committee said they were very proud to have experienced her sense of humility in service, commitment to duty, and extraordinary capacity for leadership, especially in her role as the Deputy National Woman Leader and other assignments given to her by the Party.
The party then commended Governor Mohammed for the appointment, noting that such a move reinforces his recognition of merit in choosing the best hands always to assist him in the administration of Bauchi State.
