Engr Gideon Ikhine, a former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in the Edo 2020 governorship election, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) after dumping the PDP.

Recall that Ikhine officially resigned his membership of the ruling PDP in Edo, in a letter dated July 8, 2023 and addressed to the Chairman, PDP Ward 7, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.

The former gubernatorial aspirant who did not give reasons for his decision at that time, had also failed to disclose his next political move as he kept mute on his new political party.

However, Ikhine has now obtained a membership card of the APC in his Ward 7, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, formally cementing his membership of his new party.

Addressing party faithful and supporters who thronged the APC secretariat to witness the event, Ikhine reiterated his commitment to the people of Ward 7, Esan West Local Government and Edo people, saying he remain firm and resolute in serving the people.

Ikhine was one of the leading aspirants who withdrew from the Edo 2020 governorship contest for incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki who later secured the PDP ticket to win re-election for a second term.

He is believed to be interested in giving another shot at the forthcoming Edo governorship election taking place next year, 2024, and may have now joined the APC to actualise his long-term ambition.
