Omoyele Sowore, a human rights activist and presidential candidate for the African Action Congress in the 2023 elections, said that the calm behavior of security personnel at the Nigerian Labour Congress rally in Lagos prevented any violence from occurring.
In an exclusive interview with our newsmen, Sowore revealed that protesters were always peaceful and that police officers were the ones who, in his or her opinion, always incited violence by inciting protesters. Sowore joined the workers on Wednesday in Ikeja as they marched to the state House of Assembly in Alausa, Lagos.
Sowore said, “By the very nature of protests, they’re peacefully organised, it is usually the Nigerian police force that causes violent disruption of protests.”
