In order to alleviate the current suffering being experienced by Nigerians as a result of the elimination of fuel subsidy and the hike in fuel pump prices, the Progressive Governors Forum, or PGF, has stated that it is collaborating with the Federal Government, which is led by President Bola Tinubu.

This was said by the forum’s chairman, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma, to reporters after the group’s private meeting on Wednesday evening in Abuja.

Remember that the PGF is a grouping of state governors who were chosen on the basis of the APC’s agenda.

Uzodinma described the meeting as successful, saying it discussed other national issues.

“The current hardship occasioned by the price increase on both food, petroleum products and cost of living is being addressed,” he said.

He added that, “The sub-national government is working with the Federal Government to address the development.”

Uzodinma said that when it meets, the National Executive Council, or NEC, would debate how to solve the situation in order to ease the load on the populace.

Additionally, he stated that the recent resignations of Sen. Abdullahi Adamu, the national chairman of the party, and Sen. Iyola Omisore, the national secretary, were accepted by the governors in good faith and that their resignations were voluntary.

“We are happy with their services and they are happy too; we are in support of their actions and they would continue to be commended.

“We respect and recognise the services they have rendered to our great party. Their resignations have also been accepted by the leadership of the party,” he said.
