Nigeria Now Has 264 Universities with Entry of 37 New Ones | METROWATCH

The National Universities Commission (NUC), on Friday, presented provisional license to 37 new private universities to operate legally in the country.

METROWATCHXTRA.COM understands that the varsities were recently approved by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Federal Executive Council (FEC) shortly before the end of his administration.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, said that the number of private universities in the country now stands at 147 and a total of 264 Universities in all.

Rasheed congratulated the proprietors of the new private universities for successfully meeting the requirements for the establishment of private university in Nigeria.

The NUC boss assured them of maximum support of the Commission, and encouraged the new varsities to freely approach the NUC for guide and advice in order to avoid mistakes that could attract sanctions from the Commission.
