The inauguration of the 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly has been postponed indefinitely over security concerns.

The postponement was announced in a statement on Tuesday signed by Acting Clerk of the House, Ibrahim A. Musa.

Musa, who regretted the development, said a new date and time would be communicated to the lawmakers-elect and the public.

The statement reads, “The Acting Clerk, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Ibrahim Musa wishes to inform all Hon. Members-Elect and the general public that based on security advice the scheduled inauguration of the first session of the 7th Assembly as directed by His Excellency the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State Engr. Abdullahi Sule is hereby postponed.

“In view of the above, a re-scheduled time will be communicated to all Hon. Members-Elect and the general public.

“We regret any inconveniences this postponement may have caused.”

Like other state parliaments, following the inauguration of new governments on May 29, the 6th Nasarawa Assembly was expected to be dissolved and the 7th Assembly inaugurated with a letter of proclamation from the state governor, Abdullahi Sule.
