•Martins Amaewhule takes oath of office as Rivers Assembly speaker

The Rivers State House of Assembly (RSHA) has elected a new speaker and deputy speaker to pilot the affairs of the house for the next legislative dispensation.

While Mr Martin Amaewhule (Obio/Apkor constituency 1) was elected speaker, Mr Dumle Mao (Gokana constituency), emerged as the Deputy Speaker.

Their emergence followed the dissolution the 9th Assembly and proclamation of the 10th Parliament by the state governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaker Amaewhule, a fourth term lawmaker, was unanimously voted for by all members of the House present and the Assembly adjourned sitting till Wednesday 7th June.
