A Benue State High Court has granted an interim order restraining the National Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, from parading himself as the party’s national chairman.
The presiding judge, Justice W.I. Kpochi, gave the order on Monday while ruling on a motion exparte marked: MHC/633/2023, and filed by Conrad Terhide Utaan.

metrowatchxtra.com gathered that Ayu was suspended on 26th March by the Executive Committee of the PDP in the Igyorov ward of Gboko Local Government Area of Benue state.

According to some documents seen by metrowatchxtra.com, the PDP henchman was suspended over alleged anti-party activities after the executives passed a vote of no confidence on him.

They accused Ayu — alongside his allies — of contributing to the party’s loss in his ward and local government in the just concluded March 18 governorship and state house of assembly election in Benue State.

The party’s executive accused Ayu of not voting during the polls, noting that most of the embattled Chairman’s allies worked for the opposition party.

Ayu is also accused by his kinsmen of not paying his annual dues to the PDP as enshrined in the party’s constitution.

However, 12 out of the seventeen executive members signed the documents endorsing the suspension of Sen. Ayu.
