Ogun Deputy Speaker loses Assembly seat to PDP

Akeem Balogun, the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, has lost his battle to keep his seat.

Balogun, who represents Ogun Waterside Constituency, ran for election on Saturday on the ticket of the governing All Progressives Congress.

He was defeated in the election by Lawal Samusideen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The PDP’s Samusideen received 7,716 votes to defeat the incumbent Deputy Speaker, who received 5,873 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Balogun was appointed Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State Legislature after Dare Kadiri was removed in 2021.
