Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) monitoring the ongoing State House of Assembly election in Edo State have reportedly arrested a party agent in connection with vote buying.

metrowatchxtra.com gathered that the incident occurred at the Olua Primary School polling unit in Uselu Ward, Egor Local Government Area of the state, Saturday afternoon.

It was further gathered that officials of the EFCC intercepted and arrested the suspect following a tip-off of suspected voter inducement and vote buying in the area.

An eyewitness told this Reporter that an officer of the anti-graft agency sustained injury in the process of the chase and arrest of the suspect.

It was not immediately clear which political party the arrested party agent belongs to or the amount of cash and material inducement found on the suspect.

However, the eyewitness told this Reporter that the suspect was handed over to police personnel on ground for possible investigation and prosecution by the EFCC operatives.

Efforts to obtain comments from the Edo State Police command proved abortive as the known phone line of the spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, rang out as at the time of filing this report.
