Leaders of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) including the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar are currently protesting at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in Abuja, over the presidential election result.

Among the protesting leaders include the PDP National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu; members of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC); chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT), Senator Adolphus Wabara; Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; Chief Raymond Dokpesi; former Adamawa State Governor, Boni Haruna, among others.

Earlier, the leaders had gathered at the Legacy House, the presidential campaign headquarters of the PDP, which served as meeting point, where they were joined for the protest by the PDP flag bearer, Atiku.

Last week, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the presidential election held on Saturday, February 25.

Tinubu polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat Atiku Abubakar of the PDP who had 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) who secured 6,101,533 votes.

But the PDP rejected the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect, saying the election that produced the APC candidate was marred by irregularities and Atiku won the election.
