The Supreme Court’s ruling extending the use of old N200, N500, and N1,000 notes to December 31, 2023, has the support of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.
Wike, mocking the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, claimed he had no choice but to abide by the Supreme Court’s ruling.
“I thank God the Supreme Court today told them the old money is valid till the end of December,” the governor remarked in Abuja.
“So, if you still have the old money, use it. The highest court of the land has said so.
“Too bad for the governor of the Central Bank. He has no choice. There is no other directive that can override the judgment of the Supreme Court.”
