The All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC) has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo, who called for the cancellation of allegedly manipulated results from Saturday’s presidential election.
Obasanjo in an open letter on Monday, had called on President Muhammadu Buhari to take urgent steps to address the tensions that followed allegations of discrepancies in the election results.
However, reacting to the call by Obasanjo, the APC PCC in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Dele Alake, accused the former Nigerian leader of “hypocrisy” and “mischief”.
The APC PCC further claimed that “what Obasanjo is subtly calling for in his nefarious statement is a coup against democracy and the constitution”.
Alake added, “luckily, President Buhari is made of finer and more principled democratic stuff. He will not allow Obasanjo to lure him into tainting his democratic credentials in this regard.”
