Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has announced the postponement of voting in some parts of Edo states.

At a press conference in Abuja on Saturday, Yakubu said the announcement is due to the omission of a political party’s logo on the ballot that was deployed for the election.

Although, the INEC boss did not state the name of the party, reports on Saturday, however, indicates that the logo of the Labour Party was missing on INEC’s ballots in some parts of Edo and other states.

According to Yakubu, the affected constituencies are located in Esan North, Esan South and Igueben local government areas of the Edo State.

He said the elections will now hold 11th March alongside the State House of Assembly election. Edo is currently off-cycle for governorship. The next gubernatorial election takes place next year.
