(PRESS STATEMENT)
The SDP candidate for House of Representatives in Ogbia Federal Constituency, Bayelsa State, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, has held the grand finale of his campaign with massive support by his kinsmen who vowed to elect him on Saturday.
Today’s event in his hometown Opume and whistle stops at Akipleai and Akoloma communities brought to an end a two-week intensive campaign that took him and his team to all the 54 communities in Ogbia Federal Constituency.
In all the communities visited, the SDP candidate was received by  enthusiastic crowd of supporters who promised to deliver bulk votes to him.
Speaking on the chances of the former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in the state, a community leader in Idema, Chief James Goodnews Jephta, said their decision to vote massively for the SDP flagbearer was because the PDP and APC had failed the Ogbia people woefully over time, making it necessary for them to try the Social Democratic Party whose candidate has been described as the best person to represent Ogbia at this time to bring the needed change.
“The clamour for a fresh face to represent Ogbia in the Green Chamber is now a movement. The entire people of Ogbia are desperately yearning for change. We want a technocrat like Daniel Iworiso-Markson whose track record and combined experience in the public and private sector would be effectively deployed to help salvage Ogbia. For a long time, those who have been going to represent us in Ogbia have not brought any tangible development to the area and we cannot continue like that.
“We will ensure that we deliver bulk votes to the SDP candidate to enable him go to Abuja to represent us,“ he said.
Similar messages of support and commitment to Iworiso-Markson’s election were also rendered by leaders of the other communities visited by the campaign team.
Also in all the communities visited,, the SDP candidate, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, lamented the complete absence of federal presence in Ogbia and the deplorable living conditions of the people, promising that he would restore the people’s hope and ensure even development across the various communities that make up the federal constituency.
He added that he has big plans to help turn around the fortunes of Ogbia, particularly in the areas of agriculture, infrastructure, education, youth and women empowerment, thereby alleviating the yoke of poverty among the people.
