Ahead of the 2023 presidential elections, five Governors elected under the platform of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Sunday, met in Enugu State.
According to a report by Daily Post, the discussion centred on how to deliver the Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi in the 2023 election.
The Governors are: Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okezie Ikeazu of Abia State and the host Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.
According to reports, the five governors were moved to back Peter Obi’s candidacy because they are not comfortable with the PDP flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.
It was gathered that the decision of the governors may not be unconnected to the crisis rocking the main opposition party.
The crisis, which was birthed by the face-off between Wike and the former vice president, had degenerated despite efforts by party stakeholders to quell the cold war.
