In order to avoid the possible violation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC’s) stipulated timetable for the official kickoff of the 2022 general elections campaigns, the Delta State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has announced the postponement of its earlier scheduled interactive sessions with the State’s gubernatorial candidates.

The two day interactive sessions earlier slated for Friday and Saturday, September 16 and 17, 2022, has now been rescheduled to hold on Friday and Saturday, October 21 and 22, this year.

The adjustment was made known in a press statement made available to newsmen as signed by the Secretary, State CAN political strategy and mobilisation committee, Revd. Prof. Oke Akokotu.

Akokotu in the statement, further hinted that the postponement was further informed by the request of some of the gubernatorial candidates whom, according to the statement, pleaded that the dates should be adjusted in order to avoid possible conflicts with INEC approval.

While apologising to the gubernatorial candidates and other relevant stakeholders for the possible inconveniences caused by the adjustments in dates, the statement added that the venue for the interactive sessions remains the same; State CAN secretariat, 77/79, Ambassador Raph Uwechue Way, Off Okpanam Road, off High Court Road, Asaba the State capita

According to the statement, while the Friday event would hold between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Saturday would hold between the hours of 9:00 and 2:00 pm, respectively.

“In order to avoid clashes with the political timetable or campaign schedules of political parties, all Governorship Candidates are humbly requested to send text messages or Whatsapp to 08035512172 to indicate their preferred/convenient date and time for their participation from the two dates and the time limits stipulated by the State CAN” the statement stressed.
