In recognition of her passion for the development of the community and humanity, the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Lilian Imuetinyan Salami, has been honoured with the chieftaincy title of “The Oganete of Igarra Land.”
This was disclosed in a statement issued over the weekend by the Public Relations Unit of the University headed by Benedicta Ehanire, Ph.D. as Public Relations Officer, and made available to newsmen, in Benin City.
According to the statement, the title was conferred on the VC by the Otaru of Igarra Land and Paramount Ruler of Igarra Akuku Clan, HRH Oba Emmanuel Adeche Saiki II, at a grand ceremony to mark his 25th anniversary on the throne.
In her appreciation speech, Professor Salami thanked the Paramount Ruler for the honour which she said will serve as a fillip for her to do more for the uplift of others and society in general.
Professor Salami, an accomplished Educationist and Administrator has been a recipient of several awards nationally and internationally.
