UBAANA President visits UNIBEN VC, pledges Support for Salami-led Administration

President of the University of Benin Alumni Association, North America (UBAANA), Mr. Alex Imuetinyan Eronmwon, on Monday 29th August, 2022, paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor (Mrs) Lilian Imuetinyan Salami.

The UBAANA President, who was accompanied on the visit by the UNIBEN’s Director of Alumni Relations, Dr. Obeki Obeki, was received by the VC and other principal officers of the institution including the three Deputy Vice Chancellors, Registrar, Librarian and the Bursar.

Speaking during the visit, President Eronmwon said he was in Nigeria to formally appreciate the Vice Chancellor for honouring UBAANA with her esteem presence at the just concluded 16th Annual Reunion of the Association held July in Chicago, United States.

He said not only did the Vice Chancellor’s presence (and other members of the University Management team) add glamour to the event, it equally endeared Professor Salami to UBAANA, members of the Association and everyone else.

During the course of the visit, President Eronmwon, on behalf of UBAANA, announced the planned donation of items to the University’s Exams and Records Department to aid in transcript issuance process to alumni of the institution both home and in diaspora.

Some of the items identified by the UBAANA President include four Desktop Computers, four HP LaserJet printers, some Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), One HP Scanner, and a HP Copier.

President Eronmwon also informed the Vice Chancellor that, while in Nigeria, he will formally commission the recently completed UBAANA Recreation Centre at the institution’s Ekehuan Campus.

Responding, Professor Salami expressed gratitude to the UBAANA President and his team for the hospitality extended to her and other members of the University Community including the Pro-Chancellor, Olor’ogun Dr Sunny Kuku and Bursar, Dr. Victor Imagbe, during their visit.

She thanked UBAANA and her members for the planned donation of the electronic items to aid the University in transcript issuance process, while assuring that her team would put the items into good use once received.

The Vice Chancellor said her Administration has enjoyed great support from the University Alumni body, describing UBAANA as a progressive partner, and particularly lauded her members for always being at her “beck and call.”

Professor Salami said her Administration was working hard with available resources in ensuring that UNIBEN takes her rightful position in the comity of Universities, and remain committed to the University’s mandate in producing quality graduates who can compete globally.
