Members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have accused the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu of using the name of President Muhammadu Buhari to blackmail them.

The NWC members made the allegations in a statement signed by the North-West National Vice Chairman, Mallam Salihu Lukman and his South-West counterpart, Isaacs Kekemeke, on Tuesday.

They alleged that Adamu took decisions unilaterally and that when it suits him, he invoked the name of Buhari to blackmail members into accepting his decisions.

The said they were compelled to make the statement following serial postponement of the scheduled National Working Committee meetings, twice within 48 hours.

The members said they were convinced beyond doubt that this was a deliberate attempt to foist a fait accompli on the NWC on fundamental issues that affect the party.

According to them, within just two months in the lifespan of the new leadership of the great party, APC, led by Adamu, the NWC organ of the party vested with the power of managing the day-to-day affairs, including implementing decisions of the National Executive Committee (NEC), as provided in Article 13.4 of the APC Constitution, had been rendered redundant.
